Laxminarayan Basic School located in Birtamod-10, Jhapa has been honored with the Best Library Award 2024.
Among the various libraries established by the Thang Foundation of the Netherlands, Laxminarayan school was awarded the award for its outstanding work.
The program, chaired by School Management Committee Chairman Tom Prasad Oli, was chaired by Thang Foundation Secretary Marleen Fischer Verbrugge and special guests Ton Fischer Verbrugge and Yashu Shrestha.
The students welcomed the guests with bouquets of flowers and School Management Committee Chairman Oli, Tulsi Prasad Subedi, Shambhu Prasad Ghimire, Khadananda Acharya and others honored them with khada and garlands.
Presenting the award to Principal Janak Bahadur Thapa, Marleen Fischer Verbrugge said that Laxminarayan school was honored in recognition of the school’s contribution to the field of libraries.
She said that since the Thang Foundation alone cannot regulate all the work, the local level and parents should also be involved.
On the same occasion, Nepal’s renowned senior children’s storyteller Yashu Shrestha narrated stories to teachers and students and gave a demonstration, while the children performed various interesting dances.
The program, which was explained by Principal Thapa about the school and the library, was conducted by teacher Nirmala Neupane.
